Migrant Farm Worker Outreach

ONGOING -

There are about 600 Spanish speaking farmworkers in this area who speak little or no English. The are away from families and loved ones for 5-8 months at a time. Some are on a four year contract with two weeks off per year. Typically they work 60-65 hours each week with little interaction with the surrounding community. Each Sunday night, the team at St. Albans Anglican Church in Beamsville, picks up 80-100 workers from the local farms and bring them in for a hot meal, offer refurbished bicycles, clothing, counselling, access to medical care, ESL classes and wifi. These workers are a long way from home and work to support their spouses and families back home. We want to welcome them, accept them into our society and help reduce the isolation that they feel. Our ultimate goal is to have them encounter this life changing Presence of Jesus Christ!

Join the team on Sunday nights at St. Albans in Beamsville with driving, serving dinner or helping with the medical clinic.

If your small group is interested in hosting a dinner at St. Albans contact becky@lakemount.ca for more information.

There are also opportunities available to drive Caribbean workers to church at Lakemount on Sunday mornings.
